How is Artificial Intelligence (AI) reshaping the field of project management worldwide? AI is transforming practice by enhancing decision-making, automating routine tasks and improving predictive capabilities. Research shows that AI-driven systems help project managers with risk assessment, resource allocation and scheduling by analysing complex data more efficiently than traditional methods (Marnewick & Marnewick, 2020). Evidence also indicates that AI improves project success rates by reducing uncertainty and enabling proactive management of complexity in fast-changing environments (Strohmeier & Piazza, 2015; Ransbotham et al., 2021). Yet its impact is strongest when integrated with human judgement, leadership and contextual insight (Taroun & Yang, 2011). This evolving partnership between human expertise and AI is redefining the project manager’s role, shifting focus from task execution towards strategic oversight and deeper stakeholder engagement.
